August in Review

I can barely believe that August is almost over. It has been an extremely busy and fun month. Charles turned 3 years old on the 10th. It is hard to believe my little guy is so big. He is doing a great job potty training. We started the training in July and it has been trying at times, but we are proud of how he is doing. He is growing and learning something new each day.
We traveled to Georgia after Patrick finished band camp on August 2, and visited family and a few friends the week of August 3rd-10th. Charles got to have a small family birthday party at each set of grandparents' house. Thomas themed of course. He is train mad and can tell you all the Thomas the Train characters. Meredith enjoyed her time in Georgia but hated the car ride, and boy did she ever let us know how she felt! She graduated to a bigger car seat and enjoys it a little more. Meredith also experienced a half birthday. My baby girl is now 6 months old.  She is babbling, grabbing toys, and trying to sit up. Her smile brightens our days.
Patrick is now back at school, but I need to brag on him he has been working out and eating well. He has dropped over 35 pounds and looks GREAT!!!
We are also very happy for our friends Matt and Erika they also became parents to a beautiful baby girl on August 5th! We have been praying for this precious sweet blessing for over 4 years!

1st Chore

This adorable guy turned one yesterday! Words can't express how much we love him. We had a crazy time yesterday with no Internet or power on the bottom floor until our energy provider fixed a breaker that made us not have power or air conditioner from about 8pm on August 9 until about 3 pm yesterday. Thank God we had cool weather during that time and could open windows to stay cool. Since we already had Charles' birthday party on June 30th we just enjoyed our time with our birthday boy yesterday. If you would like to see his party: http://www.patrickandbrookebox.blogspot.com/2012/07/ive-been-everywhere.html or go to Erika's post here. I seriously thought about asking Matt to be the Man in the Yellow Hat from Curious George. He would have been perfect for the role.

Today he experienced his first chore of being a toddler- helping unload the groceries. He did not seem to mind one bit and I think he enjoyed it. He actually did this without being asked:)!

Six Years Ago

My sister gave birth to my nephew Truman. Happy Birthday to a little boy that changed my life by making me an aunt. I love you very much. Always love, share, and never quit learning.
I believe that Truman and Charles look a lot alike. Here is a picture of Truman right before he turned one.

Way Back Wednesday

Happy Birthday Patrick! What a difference a day makes. May 23rd is a special day it is the day you came into the world. Apparently Charles gets his love for his swing honest.

Surprise Party

I didn't blow the surprise or Patrick was just really easy to fool. I will say it was not easy. I had planned on sending Patrick to the store and to a graduation party but he wanted me to go also. So I had to ask our guests to decorate while we were gone. On the way to the party from the store to get a card for the graduation party-Patrick decides he must get something and take it to our friends' house on the way to the graduation party. Arg! He was not making this easy. I had to run in get what he wanted to deliver so he didn't ruin his surprise. Then I had to make something up to get him home. It all ended wonderfully! Thanks to our dear friends: The Grotes, the Whithams, and the Meyerings.
Getting ready for the party.
