Band Olympics 2013

No it is not some cool new sport where you play your instrument while doing gymnastics or playing beach volleyball, but is fun all the same! How does a Band Olympics go? Well this one went like this:
A one hour rehearsal in the band room.
Then to the park to play beach volleyball, water balloon toss, which led to a water balloon fight, and finally grilled burgers and hot dogs to chow down on.

Days 4 and 5 with Flat Stanley

Day 4 Adventures:
Playing and reading inside because of the rainy cool weather. Charles is wearing a sweatshirt from Truman's school.
We tried on Charles' Halloween costume to make sure it was going to fit for Trick or Treating. Last night Flat Stanley went with Patrick to the football game. Here is Flat Stanley with the band Patrick directs. See if you can find Flat Stanley in the pictures!

Day 5 Adventures:
After a late night last night at the football game Flat Stanley slept in. Later that afternoon we went to the park to swing and slide.

On our way home we stopped at the John  Deere dealership. They sell all kinds of equipment that farmers need to plant and harvest.

Do you see the corn that Iowa is famous for?

Marching Band Begins

...and that means new t-shirts. Every student in the band has a matching t-shirt they must wear under their band jacket in order to be able to not wear said jacket after half-time. This is new to me since I was not in band, and I married into it. I must say though it is a lot of fun and very neat to see everyone look uniformed. I also like getting a new t-shirt to support my band kiddos and my husband. I hope they have a wonderful year and have lots of fun! This year's show is a Journey show. Even Charles is supporting the band with his shirt "I'm with the band." Charles, Grandma, and I just went to see the half-time show and then left. Since the weather might not allow us to see any more performances I was very happy to get to go see the band, and it was fun to show off Charles too.

Oh Well

I had some really cool pictures to share of Patrick and I from Band Award Night, a picture update on the really cool blanket I am making, and I also wanted to share pictures of our newly painted bathroom. Well the bathroom was about two-three weeks ago. I just now had some time to work on updating the blog, and our little connecter to upload pictures is at the High School!!! Oh well I guess all of this will have to wait until Monday or Tuesday.

I would like to say happy birthday to all of our friends and family that have had a birthday recently. I am extremely sorry if I forgot to mail a card. My brain seems to have been removed from my body lately if I don't write down a to do list it doesn't get accomplished. So that everyone gets a happy birthday or happy anniversary:
May 12- Dianne (birthday)
May 13- Addison (birthday)
May 15- Elizabeth (birthday)
May 19- Chris and Lottie (anniversary)
May 23- Patrick (birthday)
May 25-Bill and Mike (birthday)
May 26- Jake (birthday)
May 27- Kim (birthday)
May 29- Alex and Pat (anniversary)

HELLO WORLD

Hi everyone! I'm very sorry I haven't updated the past couple of weeks. It is not that I don't have a lot to share it is that we have been on warp speed the past couple of weeks. Here are a few of the things we have been up to...

2.) We received our Sugarland tickets for August in the mail!  Iowa State Fair& Sugarland&Family !!!
3.) The Small hallway has been painted and is awaiting decor.
4.) The doors to our kitchen cabinets are down and in the process of being renovated.
5.) Lots of yard work and trees down.
6.) We had a yard sale this past Saturday from 8-2.
7.) Game nights and time around the fire pit with great friends.
8.) Graduation parties
And this week we have:
1.) High School Concert tonight at 7pm
2.) Instrument testing for rising 5th graders on Tuesday afternoon.
3.) Middle School Concert Thursday night.

No wonder I feel so tired lately!

Well our football team won last night, and will have another game this coming Monday night. They will play until they lose. We hope they go all the way to the state championship game and WIN! This is our High School team.
The weather finally worked in Patrick's favor last night, and the band was able to perform their whole show! They did a really great job.
I am taking my last class in order to have a standard license for K-5 teaching in Iowa. I will have my last class on December 17th! I guess that is it.

Our 1st Home Game as Tigers

The game went wonderfully! The stands were packed on both sides last night. Carroll played their in town rival the local Catholic school. The band played the whole game, and everyone is used to them not playing after half time. I think everyone enjoyed them playing though. Of course they had 3rd quarter off to relax, but they ended with pep songs. Fall Football is in the air!!!
The scoreboard at half time! Our boys were doing great! We won but I forgot to take a final scoreboard picture!Patrick talking to the band getting them focused and pumped to play at half-time!
Here are our football boys ready to do some damage on the scoreboard and the field. GO TIGERS!!!!!!
