Another Yard Project Finished

Patrick finished another yard project. This is beside our garage. With our lack of rain the past 3 weeks or so our grass is not doing so hot.

Bananas, Books, and Yard Work

First Fruit: Bananas
His first few bites--he made this face.
As you can see he warmed up to them.
This series is adorable. I laugh while I read them to Charles. So far we have read this book and Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend. I can't wait to read others.
Sunny nice weather also means yard projects. See what Patrick worked on yesterday. Yard project pictures:

One Step Closer....Projects Inside &Outside

We have talked of purchasing blinds for the kitchen for awhile. We finally got them. They are now up. Too bad they were an absolute pain to get up and to remove the extra portion at the bottom. It would be nice for products to have better parts and clearer directions. Sorry to complain but really if you spend money that you work hard for it is a royal pain to end up with a product with poor directions and poor parts/design.
The next step is for window toppers. Suggestions are welcome. We are not sure what color to go with.
This is a picture of the other window in the kitchen. It is over the sink. This is the best picture I could get.
Patrick spent many hours trying to dig up these stumps. He broke down and rented a stump grinder. It ended up being much cheaper to rent and D.I.Y. it than to hire someone. We are now rid of the four stumps we had in our yard. We had 2 guys show up and help out and to check out the big yard toy in action. Thanks Jeff and Mike for your help and time!!!This stump needed to be smaller before grinding it. Thanks again to Jeff and Mike for doing this portion of the task since Patrick had stitches in his hand from broken glass. Our yard is coming along quite well. Patrick has been a very busy man working hard to make our yard a more beautiful place.

One Busy Weekend

Update on my knitted blanket: I am now at 18 3/4 inches. I have to get to 40 inches. I have a goal of having it finished by June 15th. Thanks Pop and Mama C for a precious soft blanket for Charles. I know it was wrapped before you got to see it so I thought I would post it for you.

This Weekend we celebrated graduation in Carroll. We are very proud of our seniors. Best wishes for very bright futures. Thanks for inviting us to share in your special weekend. Here is Patrick with some of his graduating Seniors.

Side note: I am 28 weeks here.

My Parent's Visit to our Home

I'd like to share my Snapfish photos with you. Once you have checked out my photos you can order prints and upload your own photos to share.
This was the easiest way to share our time together. Especially since I downloaded pictures from my camera and my parent's camera on Snapfish. I hope you enjoy. I also promise that if you come out you don't have to work around the house or yard.

HELLO WORLD

Hi everyone! I'm very sorry I haven't updated the past couple of weeks. It is not that I don't have a lot to share it is that we have been on warp speed the past couple of weeks. Here are a few of the things we have been up to...
1.)  State Band Group Competition- The students did a great job! Way to go Tiger band. If you want more details you will have to ask my husband because I just go to support and help out, and otherwise I am just clueless on the finer parts of band.
2.) We received our Sugarland tickets for August in the mail!  Iowa State Fair& Sugarland&Family !!!
3.) The Small hallway has been painted and is awaiting decor.
4.) The doors to our kitchen cabinets are down and in the process of being renovated.
5.) Lots of yard work and trees down.
6.) We had a yard sale this past Saturday from 8-2.
7.) Game nights and time around the fire pit with great friends.
8.) Graduation parties
And this week we have:
1.) High School Concert tonight at 7pm
2.) Instrument testing for rising 5th graders on Tuesday afternoon.
3.) Middle School Concert Thursday night.
4.) Carroll Graduation, Graduation parties, and Patrick's Birthday this upcoming weekend!
No wonder I feel so tired lately!

New & Old Projects

Patrick has been busy:
He is continuing to take paint of the cabinets. He has had many layers to go through to get to the wood. See the lovely green.

Today he started taking down a few more trees that spread like weeds. He is constantly up to something! This project took place while he was waiting on the chemicals to help get the paint off of the cabinets.

Spring is in the Air...

...and this is what we have been up to lately:The cake was for our friend Jill's birthday, and it was yummy. That night we had lots of fun playing minute to win it games. I will share as soon as I get the pictures uploaded.
This is my favorite area of the back yard. The small hillside is now in bloom.

The bird feeder has been a hit for the birds! Patrick has already had to refill it once or twice.
More pretty blooms on the hillside in the back yard.

Lots of rhubarb. If you know any good recipes let me know.
My favorite flowers in the yard. They came up right beside the side of the house and driveway.
A spring and summer love Patrick and I both share. Him grilling and we both enjoy the eating!

Patrick and Friends

3 Trees down! The two covering the house up are now down. We didn't plan on taking them down this soon, but we did plan on them coming down pretty quickly. This winter's ice storm helped our decision to take them down now rather than later. We like that now the house is not covered up. The before shot of the house with the two trees covering up a good portion of the front of the house.

The next pictures are of a tree in the back yard that was rotten, and now it is also down:

Patrick and Michael working out their game plan to take down the tree in freezing weather. By the way we were on a SNOW DAY/BLIZZARD!

The tree partially down after a great deal of work.

...continued from previous picture.

This is how the tree stayed until the weather warmed up!

The tree is now finally down. Thanks Michael and Mr. Grote for your help!!!! Now all the branches from the 3 trees and the ice storm are gone!

The After shots:

See how open the front of the house looks now. We are open to suggestions on what to plant in place of the trees.

The back yard without the tree or tree house! Now all we have to do is get rid of this stump, and we can plant some flowers. Oh did I say we?
