First Earache

Our sweet boy has his first earache. Patrick and I only got about 2 hours of sleep last night because Charles was miserable. I took Charles to the doctor this morning. Thank goodness we went. Hopefully with meds , ear drops, and Tylenol he will get better quick. Please pray for a fast recovery and rest for us all. It really has been one of those weeks-the week started out with Patrick and I having a bad bug and is ending with Charles having an earache. Needless to say we have not gotten a great deal of rest this week.

Cross Country Meet

A first for all of us: we attended a cross country meet. Our school and the local private school share a team. About seven or so boys that are in the band run. It was fun and Charles loved being outside as long as someone was paying attention to him. He did not lack for attention.

Books to Try

Here are some books I believe you will enjoy trying out. I know I enjoyed them.
Look Again: This book is about adoption. The main character is a newspaper reporter. She meets and falls in love with a baby boy at the hospital she is doing a story on. Go forward about 2 years and a flyer comes in the mail with a projected picture of a missing boy and a reward for any great detail to finding the little boy is worth 1 million dollars. The reporter just can't get the card out of her mind because her little boy looks just like the boy in the flyer. This book will capture you and you will not be able to put it down. Great twists and turns that keeps you hooked.
The Weight of Silence: A book that will keep you reading just to figure out what happens to the two little girls that go missing. This story has it all- abduction, selective mutism, verbal and physical abuse, and so much more. This book takes place in Iowa.

Ruined: This book takes place in Louisiana. It is filled with mystery and suspense about what happened to a young girl over 100 years ago.

If you try any of these books or have questions about them please let me know. It tried not to give too many details so that I wouldn't ruin the books for you.

Storytime for the Littles in your Life

I'm back with great books for you to get to read to your little ones.
Bathman!: Is a fun book about a young boy at bath time. He uses his bath to save Ducky from Cap'n Squeegee.

Who Is Driving?: A great book for teaching  prediction with little ones.

Grump: It is not who you think is the grump. It is  told from a toddler 's point of view.

Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?: A very funny read. You will enjoy this book as much if not more than your little one(s).

One last book that I could not find an image for is GO-GO Baby! by Roxane Orgill. This one is all about the many ways baby travels.

My New Project

I have been debating on making a throw for our living room using cables in the pattern. About 2 years ago I started using cable needles. I became addicted to how pretty the cables make the finished project and how much fun cable knitting is. I started knitting in January of 2007 and it is one of my favorite hobbies.
Things I have made:
baby blankets
throws
dishcloths/ baby bath cloths
scarfs
hats
toddler poncho
I rarely sell my work. I either keep projects for my enjoyment/use or give them away as presents.

Labor Day Weekend

 The family at Lake Superior
 Charles and I

About to put Charles' feet in the lake
 Photos with Daddy
He got distracted which is really easy for him to do.
We left Saturday morning heading for Mall of America and spent most of the day at the mall. The next morning we drove over to Lake Superior and went into Wisconsin since we were right there, and to be honest so that we could knock it off the list of states we have left to travel to. We had a lot of fun sight seeing and shopping.  We got home at 12:30 am on Labor Day. We slept in until 8:30 and were lazy for the most part on our Labor Day/Day off vacation from work.

States Charles has been in the first year of his life:
1. Iowa
2.Georgia
3.South Carolina
4. North Carolina
5. Tennessee
6.Kentucky
7. Missouri
8.Illinois
9. Indiana
10. Minnesota
11. Wisconsin
12. Nebraska

States I have left to see:
1. Washington
2. Oregon
3. Montana
4. Idaho
5. Wyoming
6. Utah
7. Arizona
8. New Mexico
9. North Dakota
10. South Dakota
11. Louisiana
12. Michigan
13. Delaware
14. Hawaii
15. Alaska

I don't know which states Patrick has left, but I know he has roughly 15 left also. Our lists are a little different though. So Charles will be going to a few more states as we try to reach our goal of visiting each state.
