First Haircut

Today I took Charles to get his first haircut ever. I know he has needed a cut for a couple of months, but I had fears of him screaming, kicking, and swinging. I really wanted him to sit on the booster seat so I could take pictures/video but that didn't happen. He wanted me to hold him. He wasn't a fan of the cape bib they put around him to begin with but got used to it. He was a little wiggle monster but very calm and sweet during the hair cut. The hairdresser was really sweet and let him play with the water bottles and two combs while she cut his hair. Now he has a big boy haircut.
1st pictures of him right after his 1st haircut.

Snow Storm Q

So snowstorm Q hit Thursday late afternoon. We got somewhere between 6-8 inches. I planned to take pictures Friday morning, but I didn't get around to it until late Friday afternoon after the streets had totally been cleaned & Patrick had cleaned our walkway/drive. Charles enjoyed looking at the snow. This was the first snow he has ever touched. He put his finger in and took it right back out and smiled. You can see how we enjoyed hanging out while at home. Charles loves blankets just like his mommy.

A Lovely New Author

Reading is one of my favorite things to do. I am so excited about the series I'm currently reading. I would like to present a new author that I have stumbled upon- her name is Mona Hodgson. Her website is full of neat information about her books. She has written many novels and children's books. I am currently on book 3 in The Sinclair Sisters of Cripple Creek, Colorado. The books are wonderful and since I can't put them down I have read each of them in less than two days. Check out the lovely description of each book on her website. Book One: Two Brides Too Many, Book Two: Too Rich for a Bride, Book Three: The Bride Wore Blue, and Book Four: Twice a Bride ***If you can tell me how to make lists since blogger has changed please leave a comment! Thanks!!!***

We Hope This Is NOT TRUE

According to weather predictions we are looking at anywhere from 6-10 inches starting this Wednesday night into Thursday. We are also looking at winds at 23-35 mph winds during the day Thursday and 13-25 mph on Thursday night. This is not what we want! We really hope this passes and does not hit us. We have a really cool band Prism Concert at CHS that we really want to take place. Plus we are just ready for SPRING!

Mexican Salad Recipe

This goes great with fried chicken, grilled hamburgers, and enchiladas. 1 head of lettuce (or a bag of romaine lettuce) Spring onions (optional and I don't use them) 6 slices of bacon, fried crisp and crumbled 1 cup of shredded sharp cheese 1 can of dark kidney beans, drained and rinsed until you no longer have any juice Fritos to taste Mix with Catalina dressing just prior to serving. Serve immediately and enjoy. Does not keep well. Please help if you know what happened to blogger. I cannot make lists anymore which is REALLY FRUSTRATING!

Homemade Play-Dough

This is a first for both Charles and myself. I still feel crummy but I felt bad about not spending more time playing and doing things with Charles. So this morning didn't start until 6:40, but after breakfast and getting cleaned up we have: played with toys, chatted on the phone with my mom and niece, and made and played with play-dough. I know that there are plenty of recipes online. I used the third no baking required recipe this time. You will need more water than it calls for. I added food coloring to make our dough blue-green. I would love to get the recipe used by Mrs. Meshek at Glidden Ralston that way my hands will not be blue like they are now. Anyway it was worth it. Charles enjoyed it so much. He did try to eat it and went "yuck". At least it was only flour, salt, water, and food coloring. I need to get a few cookie cutters so he has other toys to use with the play-dough. Check out the video of him playing if you would like and ignore my horrible voice.

So Tired: A day in the life of a sick Mommy

I have been hit by the cold bug and with it laryngitis. It is not fun. All I want to do is lay around and watch t.v., sleep, or read. The house and my little guy have totally different ideas. Things we have done today since today was a no school day: 6:15am Charles wakes up. 6:20- Feed Charles, change his diaper, and brush his teeth. I eat after he is finished and take my medicine. 7:00-8:00am watched Curious George 8:00-9:30 Play toys with Charles 9:30 He decides he wants a snack 10:00am watch 1 episode of Dinasour Train (PBS is Charles favorite channel) 10:30-11:00 Play some more. I am ready to collapse and wish he would have taken a morning nap. 11:00 I eat a little lunch which Charles wants to try some peasse(his version of please). I also decide I need a break from PBS and watch Rachel Ray. Yes, a lot of t.v. for one day but what can I do--I can't talk and I feel rough. 12:00 Feed Charles his lunch. 12:30-3:00 Charles naps!!! CUE: angles singing in my head because I am ready to drop. I finally get to nap from 1-3. 3:00-4:00 I feel even worse. I sit on the couch and watch Charles play. Then I start looking for soup because something warm on my throat sounds nice. 4:00 Give up the search and decide I must brave the 29 degree weather and go to the store. 4:15-5:00 Picking up groceries 5:00 Feed Charles Supper. He decides he doesn't want to drink his milk so we put it up for later. 5:45 I get to eat some chicken noodle soup. 6:30 It is medicine time for both of us. Oh I forgot to mention the doctor put Charles on medicine too. 6:30-7:00 Watch Big Bang while Charles plays and come back and forth bringing me toys. I'm sure he wonders what happened to my voice. 7:00 Give Charles his milk and brush his teeth. 7:30- Take him upstairs and get him ready for bed: Diaper change, read a story from his picture Bible and say prayers. Thankful he went down without crying. 8:00-8:45 On pinterest and checking out blog updates. 8:45 I decide to bore you all with my day. You are very welcome. It is 9:15 and I am going to bed!

The Habit Starts Early

One of Charles' favorite things to do is unpack the Diet Cokes. He knows he is not supposed to be doing this but loves it anway. We do not allow him to drink them.

Random

Here is my second attempt at styling my hair a different way:
Pinterest is really helping me change up my boring same old same old hair. Last month was a very sick month for our little guy. He seemed to have one thing after the other. A cold, then a stomach virus, then the flu, and before the flu let go of him RSV attacked. January was a month of sickness and little sleep for everyone in our house. I think I only took 3-5 pictures the whole month. I have been at a stand still with my blue cable blanket--50 rows left. Although I am on track reading. I am on my 6th book of the year! I guess last month was not a total bust but I am hoping for a healthy February. Thank goodness the groundhog said we will have an early SPRING!!!
